Cantera means
"quarry" in Spanish, and Adoquin is a particular type of Cantera stone,
generally harder and rougher in appearance than regular Cantera stone.
Geologically these stones are consolidated volcanic ash with a variety of secondary
older
rock materials from the surrounding area and laced with
multi-colored pumice fragments.
